Saves the Day - Let It All Go.
New song off their upcoming album, Daybreak.
My love for Saves the Day runs deep. I started listening to them when I was a junior in High School. Their Album, Through Being Cool had come out 2 years earlier and as soon as I heard it, I knew I was in it for the long haul. It was one of those albums that as a teenage girl, I could relate to. Every track had some kind of meaning for me. Then came my personal favorite, Stay What You Are. Released in 2001, this album showed the bands growth, musically as well as lyrically. This was also the album that got them some mainstream success with their single, At Your Funeral. But this is also when the original guitarist and drummer decided to leave. Chris Conley, the lead singer took over guitar and the drummer was replaced. From here on out, there was a rotation of band members, but Conley and guitarist David Soloway stayed with it. After their most current release, Under the Boards, Soloway left the band, leaving Conley as the only original member of the band.
Throughout their career, Saves the Day has put out 6 albums, with the 7th, Daybreak, on the way. They also released 4 EPs. I’m Sorry I’m Leaving, their 5 song acoustic EP came out in 1999. They also released Bug Sessions Volumes 1-3, which are acoustic and live versions of songs from various albums. Ups and Downs: Early Recordings and B sides is exactly that. It consists of the I’m Sorry I’m Leaving EP, unreleased tracks and compilation songs.
I will always love this band. When people ask me the terrible question, “What kind of music do you like?” My answer is always, “Well, Saves the Day is my favorite band.” And I don’t mind that. I may not listen to them as often anymore, but I can still sing every word to every song. And whenever they are in my area, I will be there. It’s unconditional. They were my first love and they will always have a place in my heart (and ears).
