Enjoy Your Day
One of my favorite bands, Alkaline Trio, have announced that they are signing with Epitaph Records. They also have a new album in the works that is due out in February.

“This record is a rock record but our punk rock upbringing definitely shines through, more so than our last few records,” frontman Matt Skiba said to Spinner. “The vibe is similar to our humble beginnings. It’s a step forward but I also think it has glimmers of our past in it.”

Alkaline Trio has already released 6 full length albums. The first being Goddammit in 1998 followed by Maybe I’ll catch Fire in 2000, they were both released on Asian Man Records. In 2001, the band released From Here to the Infirmary on Vagrant records followed by Good Mourning in 2003 and Crimson in 2005 all on the same label. Their next album, Agony & Irony came out in July of 2008 on Epic Records. As you can see, they have been a little inconsistent with their record labels.
One thing I am very excited about with this recent change is the fact that Matt Skiba said this album is going to show their, “punk rock upbringing…more so then our last few records.” As a long time Alkaline Trio fan, I have come to the understanding that each album that comes out seems more and more pop and less and less punk. It’s a little upsetting, but you grow to love each new album in a different way from the first few. But I would love for them to release this new album next year and feel the same way about it, that I do for Maybe I’ll Catch Fire.
I know that will never happen, but a girl can dream…
